KEYNOTE ADDRESS PRESENTED BY THE DEPUTY GOVERNOR OF IMO STATE, PRINCE EZE MADUMERE ON THE OCCASION OF THE MEDIA LAUNCH OF AMEBO WEBSITE AND COMMISSIONING OF MDGs PROJECTS BY SSAP-MDGs.

PROTOCOLS
It is my delight and indeed the pleasure of the Rescue Mission Administrationably piloted by His Excellency the Governor of Imo State, Owelle AnayoRochas Okorocha to welcome you, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on MDGs, Dr Precious Gbeneol to the media Launching of the Citizen’s Engagement Protocol in Imo State and the commissioning of MDGs projects. This honour of your revered presence is not only a privilege to the government of Imo State, but also another show of your consistent and unprecedented support to His Excellency’s commitment towards achieving the MDGs by 2015.
I like to place on record the wonderful performances of the OSSAP-MDGs. Inrecent times, we have witnessed lots of your brilliant initiatives including the launch of AMEBO website. I thank you and your team for your creativity and commitment to duty.
There is no gainsaying the hard fact, that the primary and fundamental responsibility of any responsive government in the world, is that of arousing and sensitizing the consciousness of the people to what is right, just, fair and equitable. It is also the duty of government to take the lead in the provision ofbasic infrastructural facilities and all other modern amenities with a view to making the people’s lives worthwhile. Let me say that the primary objective of this Amebo Launch is to sensitise and intensify community members to engage government in the development of our communities. This will further strengthen communities’ voice as partners in the development process.
It is now a celebrated fact that the Rescue Mission administration of His Excellency Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha has moved government to the very door steps of the people through the creation of the first community government council in Nigeria fully backed by law. We have through community engagement and participation developed, implemented and supervised the MDGs projects as we have over 50 projects today ready for commissioning.
The commitment of our rescue mission administration to achieving the MDGs isstrong and determined. Indeed, the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) projects have equally gone a long way in touching the lives of our people. It is an incontestable fact that Imo State is setting the pace in education and in providing health facilities. The Free Education to all students and massive interventions in educational infrastructure are significantly in progress. We are constructing of 305 model classrooms and 27 general hospitals, we arerenovating Primary schools, providing school uniforms, books and sandals to thousands of pupils across the state.
I like to draw your attention to the massive construction of roads across major towns and communities in the state as well as provision of other landmark infrastructural facilities which we consider as part of our rescue mission administration’s efforts to create jobs.
These interventions, among several other activities of the Imo Rescue Mission were done with the belief that no amount of investment in improving the lot of our people is too much.  Indeed, this remains the focus of our Government. We truly seek to bring development to the people and reduce poverty among them in line with goal one of the MDGs.

Please take time off your busy schedule to explore the rich cultural heritage of the good people of Imo State
You are welcome! Nnoo!
Thank you and God bless.
