Imo State Government has reassured the National Emergency Management Agency of Nigeria of its her readiness to provide NEMA the required Accommodation and storage facilities to set up a Zonal Headquarters in Owerri, IMO State.
Speaking during a working visit to the Director General of the Agency, Alhaji Mohammed Sanusi, Deputy Governor of IMO State, Prince Eze Madumere MFR called on Director General of NEMA to send a liaison officer to work out the setting up of IMO Slot as a Zonal Headquarters of NEMA. He disclosed Governor Okorocha's appreciation of Emergency Management even as the President of Red Cross Nigeria and his readiness to do all within reach to safely secure facilities for the Agency to properly settle for her all important task to the Nation especially the South East Zone.
Speaking further, Prince Madumere also commended the Agency for her efficiency during the flood incident, which affected most part of the country, While extolling Director General for his hard work and passion for the job. He further disclosed that the fund allotted to IMO State to ameliorate the sufferings of the flood victims are being judiciously utilized in readiness for any emergency situation in the areas affected by the last year flood incidence, which he mentioned as Ohaji- Egbema and Oguta Local Governments.
In his response, the NEMA boss who described IMO Deputy Governor as a friend of the Agency thanked him for coming both in personal and official capacity. He however promised to send an officer form the Agency for quick secure of the Office Accommodation and Storage facilities for the Agency.
He further drew the attention of IMO Deputy Governor of the prediction for greater rains in 2013 heavier than 2012, which wreak havoc in the Nation. He canvassed for greater awareness creation and other preparation to avert huge damage and create room for better management of such crises in the nearest future.
